WCBS-FM Rocks the House

For the last 24 years, Scott Shannon has broadcast his final live show of the year from Blythedale Children's Hospital - a day that is a perennial favorite for our children, their families, staff and supporters. This year's event was no exception as Scott, and his team from WCBS FM 101.1, returned to Blythedale along with Rob Thomas (who returned for his 27th consecutive year), Mark Rivera (Billy Joel's sax player), Sal "The Voice" Valentinetti (America's Got Talent finalist), American Idol Finalist Jax, and Tim McLoone & Holiday Express.

This event is always extraordinary, and this year was certainly no exception. Scott and his team, and the musical talent - all of whom were terrific - put on a show that is simply indescribable. It's a very memorable day for our patients and their families, and we are so grateful to Scott and WCBS for carrying on this cherished tradition.

CBS2 News meteorologist John Elliott was also on hand, broadcasting the weather live from Blythedale and interviewing Hospital staff and guests.

In addition to a great line up of music, the event featured an online auction with a wonderful collection of items, including a VIP package to a Billy Joel concert and luxury box seating for a New York Yankees game. While the auction is closed, you can still support this wonderful event by making a donation on the WCBS donation page, or by calling (914) 831-2424.

Totals for this year's benefit currently stand at $62,000. All proceeds from this year's Holiday Spectacular will support Blythedale’s Residency Training Program, which trains medical professionals of the future in pediatric pulmonology, physical medicine/rehabilitation, child psychiatry and orthopedics.
